Bryant University drops a
heart-breaker to 4th ranked Bentley 2-1
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant
University field hockey team dropped a tough NE-10 Conference game
on Tuesday to fourth ranked Bentley 2-1. The Bulldogs fall to 3-9
overall and 2-8 in the conference. Bryant will host Saint Anselm on
Thursday with a 4:00pm start time.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the first half with just little
over two minutes remaining. Freshman Ashley
Miranda (Tiverton, RI) netted a goal on a pass from junior
Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, MA).
This was Miranda's first collegiate goal.
Bryant would hold their 1-0 lead midway through the second half
when junior Mary Rogers (Watertown, MA) shot one past the keeper to
make the game tied at 1-1. This was Rogers' 19 goal of the
season which leads the Northeast-10 Conference.
Junior Amanda Deppe (Hopewell Junction, NY) would score the game
winning goal with eight minutes remaining. Sophomore Cristina Sergi
(Weston, MA) assisted both goals for the Falcons to give her a team
high nine assists on the season.
