BULLDOGS CRUISE PAST BECKER 55-7 LAST WEEKEND
It was a record breaking day for the Bryant University football team on Saturday.  In addition to a school record 587 total yards of offense and 469 yards rushing, the Bulldogs set a new school record for wins in a season with its sixth in a 55-7 win over Becker in a non-conference game at Bulldog Stadium. Lorenzo Perry (Providence ,RI /La Salle) rushed for 137 yards all in the first quarter - on just eight carries.  Jesse Johnson (New Britain, Conn./ Pomfret) rushed for a career-high 154 yards on 22 carries as the Bulldogs put the game away early.  After forcing Becker (0-6) to punt on its' first possession, Bryant found the end zone in just two plays.  Charles Granatell (Franklin Lakes, NJ) hit Justin Kix (New Shoreham, NY) with a 26-yard touchdown down the middle.  Perry helped set the score up with a 53-yard run down the middle on the first play of the drive. On the Bulldogs¹ second possession, Perry scored from 13 yards out to make it 14-0 and the rout was on.  Drew Shaw (Gladwyne, Pa.) scored from a yard out to make it 21-0 and Kevin Anderson (Plainville ,Conn.) made it 28-0 with a three yard run up the middle just before the end of the first quarter.  Bryant led 35-7 in the second before Becker finally got on the scoreboard as quarterback Corey Nicotera found Keith Branch with a short pass and Branch turned it into a 86-yard touchdown to make it 35-7.  Granatell finished the day 5 of 6 passing for 78 yards as the Bryant defense held Becker to just 39 yards rushing and 143 yards of offense.

PERRY NEARS 1,000
Bryant junior running back Lorenzo Perry needs just 32 yards to reach 1,000 for the season.  Perry comes into Saturday¹s game with Bentley with 968 yards rushing this season.  Since Bryant¹s first varsity season in 1999, just two other players have reached 1,000 yards rushing in a season.  Austin Martin had a school-record 1,216 in 1999 while Andre McLeod had 1,077 in 2002.  Perry is currently second in the conference with 138.3 yards per game rushing average. The transfer from UMass - Amherst had 137 yards rushing in the first quarter of Saturday¹s game vs. Becker.  He had a school-record 313 yards in a win over Stonehill.  It was the fourth-best single game performance in Northeast-10 Conference history.  For his efforts, he shared conference player of the week honors with Rob Blount of CW Post.  Bentley freshman Jon White was awarded the New England Football Gold Helmet award after throwing five TDs in the fourth quarter in a loss to CW Post.  Perry earned honor roll distinction this week.  For the season, Perry has gone over 100 yards in four games.  The school record is six by Andre McLeod in
2002.   Perry has a school record 10 rushing touchdowns this season.
