hockey falls to Franklin Pierce 3-1
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant
University field hockey team dropped a tough NE-10 Conference game
on Thursday to Franklin Pierce 3-1. The Bulldogs fall to 4-14
overall and 3-12 in the conference. Bryant will host American
International on Saturday for Senior Day with a 10:00am start
time.
The Ravens got off to an early lead scoring just a little over five
minutes into the match. Senior Amy McMullin (Belgrade, ME) scored
off a penalty corner set up nicely by teammate Jenee Clifford
(Sandown, NH). They would take a 2-0 lead on a goal by senior
Trisha Langevin (Bellingham, MA).
The Bulldogs climbed back to a 2-1 deficit, scoring just three
minutes before the end of the first half with a goal from junior
Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, MA). Sophomore
Krissy Levis (Andover, MA) took a rocket shot
which was deflected by senior Maureen Burns
(Derry, NH) and made its way to Sadler for the scoring chance.
Franklin Pierce would add another goal early in the second half
with a score from Clifford.
Junior goalie Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, CT) made a 10 saves
including a few acrobatic saves and only allowed the one goal for
the Ravens. Sophomore Kasey Kortz (Louisville, KY)
made four saves for the Bulldogs. Levis also contributed two
defensive saves.
