Terry Owens joins the Bryant University coaching staff for the2012 season after spending last season at Division II CheyneyUniversity in Cheyney, Pa. Owens will be responsible for theBulldogs' wide receivers.
At Cheyney, Owens coached the special teams and wide receivers.This past season, two players collected over 300 yards receivingand helped the Wolves average 15.9 yards per return.
Prior to his time at Cheyney, Owens coached at WidenerUniversity, working primarily with the running backs. Under Owens'stutelage, fullback Brendan Curran lead the MAC in touchdowns andwas chosen as a preseasn All-American.
He spent a season as the cornerback coach at MillersvilleUniversity before heading to Widener. At Millersville, Owensmentored All-American Julius Carte.
Before his appointment, Owens served one season as an intern atthe University of Colorado Boulder.
The three seasons prior to joining the staff at the Universityof Colorado, Owens worked as the defensive coordinator at BensalemHigh School in Bensalem, Pa.
Owens has also made two other stops in his coaching career.Prior to his position at Bensalem, Owens spent a season as the widereceivers coach at his alma mater, Kutztown University. AtKutztown, Owens produced two all-conference widereceivers.
He earned his first coaching experience in the NFL, working asan intern with the Washington Redskins.
As a player, Owens was a four-year starter and three-timeall-conference selection at Kutztown. He currently resides inSmithfield, R.I., and has two children, Nathan and Jada.
