John Gendron returns to Bryant in the fall of 2011, in charge ofthe team's tight ends. His unit was responsible for five touchdownsand over 350 receiving yards during the 2010 season.

Coach Gendron completed his first year as an assistant coach atBryant University in the fall of 2009, again coaching the team'stight ends under coach Fine. During the 2009 season, sophomore MattTracey earned First Team All-Northeast Conference honors afterleading the team with 35 receptions for 476 yards and sixtouchdowns.

A health and physical education teacher at East Providence HighSchool, Gendron was previously a four-year offensive assistant atthe University of Rhode Island.  Prior to his stint at URI,Gendron spent two seasons as linebackers coach at Bridgewater StateCollege. 
    
While at Bridgewater State, the Bears cut their points per gameallowed from 30.4 in 2003 to 17.4 in 2004 - Gendron's first season.The following year, Bridgewater ranked 15th in Division III in rushdefense (88.0 ypg) and 20th in scoring defense (15.5 ppg) en routeto a 9-1 record and the ECAC Northeast Championship.
  
With extensive high school coaching experience at both EastProvidence High School and Seekonk High School, Gendron was theoffensive coordinator for East Providence's back-to-back statechampionships in 2002 and 2003.  A 1999 inductee into theSeekonk High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Gendron playedquarterback for Seekonk, earning Southeastern MassachusettsConference All-League honors in 1977.
   
A 1982 graduate of URI with a degree in health and physicaleducation, Gendron was a four-year reserve quarterback for theRams. In 1996, he earned his Masters Degree in physical educationfrom Ball State.
