SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Head coach MikePressler is pleased to announce the addition ofAlbert Mitchell to the Bryant University men'slacrosse coaching staff for the 2014-15 season.
A two-time All-Capital Athletic Conference selection at St.Mary’s College of Maryland, Mitchell was a senior captain anda four-year starter at faceoff specialist for the Seahawks from2009-13. He went 645-of-1177 (.548) from the faceoff X throughouthis four-year career, also tallying 10 goals and seven assists tocompliment 370 career ground balls.
A standout in the classroom as well as on the field, Mitchellwas named a USILA Scholar All-American as a senior and was atwo-time All-CAC Academic Team honoree. Named to the Dean’sList on four occasions and the 3.0 club twice, Mitchell wasselected to participate in the USILA/LaxWorld North-South SeniorAll-Star game in 2013.
At Bryant, Mitchell will join forces with assistant coachTom Compitello and be responsible for Bryant'soffense, primarily working with the Bulldog midfielders. Mitchellwill also handle the team’s film exchange.
Prior to arriving at Bryant, Mitchell spent one season on thecoaching staff at Assumption College, where he served as offensivecoordinator for the Greyhounds, working primarily with theteam’s midfielders and faceoff specialists. Mitchell alsoassisted in the organization of practice and in-game strategy.
Mitchell has also served as head coach of the Worcester,Mass.-based U17 Team Central Lacrosse team since Summer 2012.
A native of Shrewsbury, Mass., Mitchell graduated from St.Mary’s College in 2013 with a degree in sociology.
