Biography

As a senior: Closed the books on a stellar Bulldog career, going 3-3 overall in singles competition … Went a perfect 2-0 vs. Northeast Conference opponents, including a straight-set victory over Juweira Hussain (LIU Brooklyn) at No. 6 singles in the NEC Championship round … Finished doubles competition with a 6-2 mark, 3-0 vs. the NEC … Earned All-NEC First Team honors at No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles with partner Ashanti Campfield.

As a junior: Posted a 5-9 overall singles mark in spring competition in 2014, all at the No.3 spot in the lineup … Picked up a near-flawless win over Larissa Kiyoki in Bryant’s win over Robert Morris in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals … Recorded a 6-5 overall doubles record at No. 1 doubles, primarily with partner Ryan Brown, going 4-1 vs. NEC opponents en route to an All-NEC Second Team nod at No. 1 doubles with Brown.

As a sophomore: Competed at the No. 1 singles position in all 14 matches she appeared in, accumulating an overall singles record of 5-9 … Finished .500 (2-2) in Northeast Conference play, including a huge win over Sacred Heart’s Gabi Kaldan in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals … Partnered with her sister Lucy Bird in doubles play, going 6-2 overall playing primarily in the No. 2 spot.

As a freshman: After completing a stellar freshman campaign during the fall semester as a member of the Bryant field hockey team, Bird joined the team for the spring semester and was an enormous boost to the lineup, finishing the season 9-2 in singles, including a perfect 3-0 against Northeast Conference competition ... Went 8-2 in the No. 6 flight ... Paired with classmate Devlin-Ann Ammendola in doubles to post a 9-3 record, going undefeated (3-0) against NEC foes in that span ... Earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors twice during the season.

Before Bryant: A 2011 graduate from Hillcrest High School ... Played tennis both at Hillcrest and on New Zealand development teams ... With Hillcrest, was the Waikato Senior Doubles Champion in 2010 ... Took a runner-up title with the New Zealand U18 Doubles Team in 2009 ...  Won the singles title at the Auckland U16 Singles Championship.

Personal: The daughter of Raymond and Jenni, Rosie Bird was born Jan. 16, 1993 ... Has four sisters: Lara, Lucy, Libby, and Molly 9, and one brother, Cameron ... Older sister Lucy will be a junior on the Bryant women's tennis team in 2011-12 ... Also a member of the Bryant field hockey team.
