Biography

As a senior (2020-21)free and medley relays
Mays took home three gold medals at the NEC Championships... He won in the 200 IM (1:48.21), 100 Back (48.17), and 200 back (1:44.06)... Set a school record in the 200 back... He also helped his team win gold in the 200 free and medley relays... Was named the NEC Swimmer of the Week four times... Member of the NEC Academic Honor Roll... Received the Bulldog Award.

As a junior (2019-20) 
Mays won three individual medals (5 total) at the MAAC Championships (three gold and two silver)… Placed first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.49… Won silver medals in the 100 (47.88) and 200 Back (1:44.40)… Both times also set new school records and qualified for an NCAA B Cut… He was also a part of both winning relay teams in the 200 and 400 medley relay… Competed in the postseason at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships… Member of the MAAC All-Academic team.

As a sophomore (2018-19)
Reset 100 and 200 back school records and also part of school-record 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 400 medley relay ... Won a silver medal in the 100 back and a bronze medal in the 200 back at the MAAC Championships ... Posted school record times of 48.91 in the 100 back and 1:46.27 in the 200 back ... Competed for Virgin Islands in the FINA World Championships ... Named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

2017-18 (Freshman)
Earned MAAC Men's Outstanding Rookie of the Meet honors at the Championships ... Owns school records in 100 back (49.36), 200 back (1:47.70) and 200 fly (1:49.13) ... also top 10 in Bryant history in 100 fly and 400 individual medley ... finished Top 2 in all three individual events at MAACs, including winning the 200 fly (1:49.13). 

Before Bryant
Swam for four years with the St. Croix Dolphins in the Virgin Islands … Won the 2017 CCCAN Swimming Championship High Point award for the 18 & Over division … Competed in the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 Singapore Junior World Championships … Currently holds 10 Virgin Island Long Course Records and 12 Virgin Island Short Course Records … Also a member of Student Council and the National Honor Society in high school.

Personal
Father, Brent, swam at Clemson from 1983-87 … Mother, Jodie, swam at Clemson from 1983-85 … has one brother, Bryson ... brother currently serves in the United States Navy.
