Jess Tosone readies to play defense

TOSONE NAMED AMERICA EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR; SEVEN EARN ALL CONFERENCE

BOSTON -- Bryant women's lacrosse senior Jessica Tosone was named the America East Defensive Player of the Year, while seven Bulldogs earned All-America East honors on Thursday as the league unveiled its year-end awards.

Tosone made it back-to-back defensive players of the year for the Bulldogs as she follows teammate Kaelynn O'Brien who earned the award in 2025. The fearsome defensive duo both repeated as first team selections and were joined by Gabriella Constant, Emily DeGeorge and Riley O'Mara. Julia Girard earned second team honors and was joined on the all-rookie team by Leyna Schnetzer. Tosone, O'Brien and DeGeorge were named to the America East All-Academic team.

Jessica Tosone - America East Defensive Player of the Year | First Team All-America East | America East All-Academic
  • Becomes the second-straight Bulldog to win the award and the third defensive player of the year in DI program history (O'Brien - 2025, Molly Martin 2016-2017).
  • Repeats as an All-America East First Team selection.
  • In America East games, Tosone led the league with 3.17 caused turnovers per game and ranked third in ground balls (2.17).
  • Tosone has posted 37 ground balls, 38 caused turnovers and 37 draw controls on the year.
  • Posted multiple CTs in 12-of-16 games, including each of the last four games.
Gabriella Constant - First Team All-America East
  • Earns all-conference honors for the first time in her career after teaming with Emily DeGeorge to form the league's best scoring duo and helping Bryant lead the league with 12.31 goals per game.
  • Finished regular season with 50 goals, becoming just the fifth different player (Kenna Kaut, Jess DeMeo, Lauren Descalzo and Emily Columbus) to post a 50-goal season in DI program history.
  • One of two players in the America East to score 50 goals, ranking third in the league with 3.13 goals per game. Ranks fifth in the league in points per game (3.63).
  • Posted 5+ goals in four games, including a career-high eight at UMass Lowell. Held scoreless in first two games of the season but recorded hat tricks in nine of the final 14 games.
Emily DeGeorge - First Team All-America East | America East All-Academic
  • Picks up All-America East honors for the second-straight year after earning second team honors a season ago.
  • Repeats as a member of the America East All-Academic Team.
  • Finished the regular season ranked fourth in the league in goals (2.80) and ninth in points (3.20). In league play, ranked second in goals (21, 3.50) and sixth in points (4.00).
  • Recorded multiple goals in all six America East games, including six against New Hampshire and four goals vs Vermont and UMBC.
Kaelynn O'Brien - First Team All-America East | America East All-Academic
  • Repeats as an All-America East First Team selection and appears on the all-academic team for second consecutive year.
  • Posted 39 ground balls, 44 caused turnovers and 39 draw controls during the regular season. Ranks first in the league in both GBs (2.44) and CTs (2.75), ranking 11th nationally in CTs.
  • Recorded multiple ground balls in 12 games, 13 multi-CT games and 12 multii-DC games. Caused 4+ turnovers in six games, including a season high six against URI.
Riley O'Mara - First Team All-America East
  • Repeats as an All-America East selection after earning second team honors in 2025.
  • Ranks fourth on the team with 33 points (29g, 4a) and posted 14 points (12g, 2a) in league play.
  • Recorded 10 multi-goal games, including a career-high five against New Hampshire.
Julia Girard - Second Team All-America East | America East All-Rookie
  • Earns postseason recognition after finishing the regular season with 110 draw controls and 6.88 per game. Posted 9.50 DCs/game in America East play.
  • Ranks 28th overall in draw controls and fifth among freshmen nationally.
  • Becomes just the third Bulldog to post 100+ draw controls in a single season in DI program history.
  • Broke the single-game program record with 17 draw controls vs UMBC.
  • Averaged 11.0 draw controls per game over the final four games of the season.
Leyna Schnetzer - America East All-Rookie
  • Finished the regular season fifth on the team with 24 points (4g, 20a).
  • In America East play, ranks fifth in assists (1.50).
  • Recorded seven multi-point games, including four-point games against Sacred Heart and UMass Lowell.
