MEN’S LACROSSE TOPPLE ST. JOHN’S, 11-7

QUEENS, N.Y. - Owen West recorded four goals to lift the Bryant University men's lacrosse team to a win over St. John's, 11-7, on Saturday afternoon.

Bryant travels to Albany next Saturday to begin conference play against the Great Danes. The Black and Gold currently have a record of 2-3.

  • The Black and Gold defense held St. John's to one goal or less in three quarters of play. 

How it Happened: 

  • Richie Reid scored the first goal of the game with 10:12 to go in the first quarter.
  • Luca Elmaleh passed the ball to Owen West for the score to keep the momentum going with 9:30 left in the first.
  • Luke Krebs blocked a shot attempt from the Red Storm, Tiernan Lathrop led the ball through transition to Owen West who scored his second goal of the quarter with 7:56 left to go. 
  • Dawson Rielly drilled a shot into the corner of the netting to make it a 4-1 game with 11:21 to go in the second quarter.
  • Luca Elmaleh ran into the heart of the defense and got past two defenders before scoring his second goal of the season with 10:21 to go in the second.
  • Jackson Estes fed Zac Amend in the wing. Amend fired a shot into the corner for his first goal of the match with seven minutes to go in the second quarter.
  • Owen West passed the ball inside to Caden Lennon who scored with 2:21 in the second quarter to propel the Bulldogs to a 7-2 lead.
  • Zac Amend flung the ball behind his back for his second goal of the game with 1:13 to go in the first half.
  • St. John's went on a 5-2 in the third quarter to get back into the match.
  • The Black and Gold held the Red Storm scoreless in the final quarter.
