BAQUERO & MACHADO RANKED NO. 20 IN ITA NATIONAL RANKINGS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant men's tennis No. 1 doubles pair of Daniel Baquero and Miguel Angel Machado came in at No. 20 in the latest ITA doubles national rankings for Division I, released on Wednesday afternoon.

This is the highest ranking for a Bryant doubles pair in the ITA national rankings in program history. They joined Matt Kuhar and Wilson Dong as the only other doubles pair to earn a national ranking, coming in at No. 38 in 2019.

Baquero and Machado earned 16.16 points in the national rankings. Machado earned a 17.9 ITA rating and Baquero earned a 14.4 ITA rating.

The doubles pair owns a 9-4 overall record through the fall and spring season. The two picked up some monumental wins this fall in the ITA semifinals in October, defeating the No. 1 seed in the region Yale, the No. 8 seed in the region Dartmouth, and Boston College. They advanced to the semifinal round before falling to Cornell.

The two also represented the Bulldogs in the ITA sectionals in November, defeating Virginia Tech 6-3, 6-2.

The doubles pair continues to play in the No. 1 spot for the Bulldogs this spring. Bryant is coming off their first win of the spring on Saturday, defeating Brandeis 4-3. They return this Saturday against Buffalo at 1:00 PM at Fore Court.
