MEN'S RUGBY BEATS NO.19 RANKED SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – One week after a tough night at Nichols, Bryant Bulldogs Men's Rugby delivered a statement win at Beirne Stadium on Saturday, rallying from a 14-point deficit to defeat No. 19-ranked Springfield College, 48-19.

The Bulldogs fell behind early, but they didn't stay there. Brett McCaffery led the comeback with a hat trick of tries and went 4-for-8 on conversions, accounting for 23 of Bryant's 48 points. Five more Bulldogs crossed the try line, with John Ryan, Jeff Caggiano, Liam Forry, Emmett Hubbard, and Matthew Politano each adding a try.

The turnaround from the previous week couldn't have been clearer. After managing just five points at Nichols, the Bulldogs scored eight tries from six different players against a nationally ranked opponent. Answering an early 14-0 hole with that kind of depth shows what this team can do when the whole roster contributes.

Brett McCaffery – 3 tries, 4/8 conversions (23 points)
John Ryan, Social Media – Try
Jeff Caggiano, Member – Try
Liam Forry, Member – Try

Up next for the team is Roger Williams on 10/4/2026 at 11:00am. Good luck, Bulldogs!
