SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University cross country team opens the 2025 season in the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational on Saturday. The community race is scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by the women's 5k race at 10:30 a.m. and the men's 5k race at 11:15 a.m.
Bulldogs to Keep an Eye On:
Senior Casey Curran appeared in four meets for the Bulldogs last season. She placed 9th at the Nassaney Invitational with a time of 19:01 and recorded a season best at the New England Championship 5k with an 18:55.
Senior Aiden Masse placed inside the top 30 at the Vermont Fall Foliage Invitational with a time of 26:50.3 in the 8k. He placed 32nd in the Nassaney Invitational last year with a time of 16:49.1. He finished top three on the team in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational 8k with a time of 27:06.14.
Junior Kelley MacElhiney appeared in six meets for the Bulldogs last season. She finished the New England Championship 5k with a time of 18:46 and placed 18th at the Nassaney Invitational with a time of 19:34.
Sophomore Andrew McConnell finished in the top 100 in the New England Championship 8k with a time of 26:43.25. McConnell ran a time of 27:38.79 in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational 8k and placed 66th in the Vermont Fall Foliage Invitational with a time of 26:43.25 in the 8k.
Bryant will be competing against Holy Cross, Johnson & Wales, Franklin Pierce, Keene State, Merrimack, Rhode Island, Southern Connecticut State, Stonehill, Rhode Island College and Wheaton College. Bryant University women's cross country team won the Invitational in 2022 and hope to make their mark in a strong way again to open the season.
