FAIRFIELD, CT – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team ran away with a 13-8 victory over SHU on the back of two big quarters during Friday's non-conference matchup.
Bryant trailed for the first two quarters, consistently down by 1-2 points, before stepping up in the remaining quarters. They tied the game at the half before dominating the fourth quarter with three consecutive goals to put them in the lead. Emily DeGeorge called the game with a goal in the final five minutes of play.
This marks Bryant's fourth consecutive win over Sacred Heart and secures them a victory to open season play.

How It Happened:
Quarter 1: While Bryant scored the opening goal courtesy of
Riley O'Mara, Sacred Heart controlled much of the first quarter. The Pioneers' Jamie Tanner, Maci Black, and Shae Insinga put them up 3-2 by the end of the period, with
Emily DeGeorge closing the gap with her first goal of the game.
Quarter 2: Bryant began picking up momentum nearing the end of the second quarter, with
Amelia Piercy entering the scoring scene.
Emily DeGeorge quickly responded to Erin Herrold's goal in under a minute before Sacred Heart fired back with two goals, extending their lead to 6-4. DeGeorge notched her third goal of the night, followed by
Gabriella Constant's equalizer, sending the game into halftime tied at 6-6.
Quarter 3: Bryant took control in the third quarter, with
Amelia Piercy striking first.
Isabelle Katter soon followed suit, picking up her first goal of the night.
Elise Larsen then found the net to solidify a 9-8 lead heading into the final quarter.
Quarter 4: The Bulldogs locked in defensively in the fourth, protecting their lead. Goalkeeper
Sam Centofante made two crucial saves while the defense forced seven turnovers from Sacred Heart. Meanwhile, the offense sealed the victory with four goals. Piercy and DeGeorge refused to have a quiet night, finishing with three and four goals, respectively.
