Bulldogs split in New Hampshire; Down Binghamton Sunday

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Bryant University men's tennis team split a pair of matches at Dartmouth College over the weekend, falling to Dartmouth on Saturday before defeating Binghamton on Sunday morning.

Bryant earned a 5-2 victory over the Bearcats on Sunday for its first win of the year.  

Saturday Recap

  • Bryant opened the weekend with a 6-1 loss to Dartmouth. It marks the first time in the series history that Bryant has claimed a point in back-to-back matches.
  • In doubles, Teague Burger and Will Pellegrini picked up a 6-4 victory at No. 2. The Big Green, however, were able to clinch the point with a 7-6 (2) victory at No. 3.
  • The Black and Gold picked up their lone point of the match with a victory over at No. 1 singles. Diego Serra Sparrow earned a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (9) victory over Gibbons. 

Sunday Recap

  • Bryant honored Anshumat Srivastava with his senior plaque prior to the match. Srivastava graduated from Bryant in 2020 but did not have a senior day due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 
  • On the court, Binghamton grabbed the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Grant Pertile and Serra Sparrow earned a 6-1 lead at No. 3.
  • The Bulldogs bounced back to win five singles matches to claim the match. 
  • Burger grabbed Bryant's first point with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3.
  • Jean Christophe Baril made it 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
  • Nick Lorenz pushed Bryant ahead with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Leonardo Mileikowsky clinched the match with a three-set victory at No. 4.
  • Pertile closed the day with a three-set victory over Srivastava at No. 5.
