SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to Dayton, 4-1, before earning a 5-2 victory over Air Force in the second match.

How it happened (Dayton)

• In doubles, the Bulldogs won at No. 1 and No. 3 to clinch the point. Redshirt junior Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) and junior Artur Jakubowski (Dallas, Texas) won 6-3, while freshman Grant Pertile (Edgartown, Mass.) and senior Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won 6-4.
• Bryant won the first set in three of the four singles matches but was not able to hold on. Kuhar won the first 6-2 at No. 1, but Jordan Benjamin won the final two sets, 6-3 and 6-4.
• Carsten Fisher won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 and Lorenzo Rollhauser won 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6.

How it happened (Air Force)

• The Bulldogs were able to win the doubles point against Air Force thanks to wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Jorge Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) and brother Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) won a battle at No. 2, 7-6.
• In singles, the Bulldogs clinched the match with victories at the top three singles. All three matches went three sets as well, with Kuhar and Lorenz rebounding from first-set losses to win their matches. At No. 3, junior Michael Plutt (Weston, Fla.) lost the second set before winning 6-3 in the third set.
