SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team defeated Butler, 5-2, on Friday morning to earn its second-straight victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED (DOUBLES)

• No. 1 – Butler's Bailey Padgett and Jordan Minnick picked up a 6-4 victory over Bryant's Ashanti Campfield (Stratford, Conn.) and Stefanie Arroyo (Gurabo, Puerto Rico).
• No. 2 – The senior duo of Linnea Sjoberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and Nina Luiggi (Nottingham, England) clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a 6-4 victory.
• No. 3 – Freshman Arianna Oropeza (Weston, Fla.) and Aleksi Gottlieb (Plantation, Fla.) grabbed the first point in doubles with a 6-2 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED (SINGLES)

• No. 1 – Padgett earned a three-set victory over Campfield, 7-5, 3-6, 10-8.
• No. 2 – Rachel Sutton earned a straight-set victory over Sjoberg, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
• No. 3 – Luiggi dropped her first set to Emily Neal, 7-5, but rebounded to win in three sets. She won the second set, 6-3, and then won the tiebreak, 11-9.
• No. 4 – Arroyo clinched the match for the Black and Gold with a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-4.
• No. 5 – Oropeza continued her strong play and put Bryant up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
• No. 6 – Freshman Gabrielle Bergeron (Quebec, Canada) grabbed the first singles point with a convincing straight-set victory, 6-2, 6-2.

NOTES

• Oropeza is now 5-1 and Bergeron improved to 4-0 in dual matches this season.
• Oropeza and Gottlieb were playing together for the second time this season. They are 2-0 together.
• Arroyo improved to 4-1 in dual matches.
