SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's team started Super Bowl Sunday with a win of its own, defeating Boston University, 6-1.

The Bulldogs (2-4) began by winning the doubles point after the freshman duo of Guido Argentini (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) won No. 1 doubles, 7-5. Sophomores Michael Plutt (Weston, Fla.) and Scott Plutt (Weston, Fla.) solidified the point at No. 2 doubles, topping J.P. Avila and Jay Leelavanich, 6-1.

All four Bulldogs that contributed to the doubles point also went on to earn Bryant points in singles play. Argentini defeated Lucas Bombonatti, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 1 singles, while Ortiz-Garcia took down Marc Sable, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, at No. 4 singles. Michael Plutt and Leelavanich clashed again at No. 3 singles, and again it was Plutt who came out on top, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). Scott Plutt was also victorious against Avila, who he played in doubles, trumping him in three games, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5, at No. 6 singles. Junior Artur Jakubowski (Dallas, Texas) defeated Satyajit Simhadri at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, as Bryant finished, 6-1, over BU on Sunday.

"Today was a great team effort," said head coach Ron Gendron. "Many starters sat, in order to let our talented bench play and they all took advantage of the opportunity. What a great day for our underclassmen. What a great day for our upperclassmen who all invested time to cheer and be great teammates. What a day to be a Bulldog."
