SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team moves to 3-0 in Northeast Conference play, shutting out Sacred Heart and Wagner, 7-0, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

The Bulldogs (9-11, 3-0 NEC) hosted the Pioneers (8-13, 2-2) on Saturday, sweeping the visitors in all three doubles matches to take the 1-0 advantage. Sophomore Nick Lamart (Raleigh, N.C.) and freshman Michael Plutt (Weston, Fla.) won in No. 1 doubles, 6-3, and sophomores Josh Kliger (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Jorge Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) paired up to win by the same margin No. 3 doubles. Senior Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) and sophomore Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) trumped the Pioneers' No. 2 doubles team, 6-1.

Vogt carried his doubles' success into singles play, defeating Brian Power 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) in No. 1 singles. The rest of the team went on to defeat their adversaries in two sets, including junior Oliver Welsh's (San Diego, Calif.), 6-3, 6-3, victory over Matt Dean in No. 2 singles.
