Men's tennis improves to 4-4 after downing BU, 5-2, on Sunday
BOSTON – The Bryant University men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 victory against Boston University on Sunday afternoon at the Track and Tennis Center.
After both teams split the first two doubles matches, the duo of sophomore Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) and freshman Juan Gonzalez-Paz (San Juan, Puerto Rico) emerged victorious in the No. 2 spot by edging Alex Hallenbeck and Alex Green in a 9-8 (5) tiebreaker, and that crucial point propelled the Bulldogs (4-4) to the dual match win over the Terriers (0-6).
Bryant went on to take four out of the six singles matches to win by the same score as the team's victory against BU back in October. The victory moves the Bulldogs back to .500 on the season. After falling in three straight matches, Bryant has now won back-to-back matches for the first time in 2011-12.
Parziale wrapped up an undefeated afternoon by downing Regis Chang, 6-4; 6-2 at the No. 3 spot to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. BU's Emilio Teran helped trim the deficit to one point with a win in the No. 4 match, but the Bulldogs clinched the victory with wins from freshmen Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) and Richard Sipala (Quogue, N.Y.), as well as sophomore Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.).
After a busy month of action, the Bulldogs will enjoy a brief hiatus before returning to the courts on March 3. Bryant welcomes America East foe Hartford for a dual match at Rally Point Racquet Club in Greenville before battling Hofstra the following Friday (March 9) at neutral-site Brown University's facilities.
