MEN'S TENNIS SHUTS OUT HOLY CROSS, FINISHES FALL SEASON
UNDEFEATED
The Bryant University men's tennis team closed out the fall
season in impressive fashion, dropping Holy Cross, 7-0, on the road
Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated in dual-meet competition.
"This was a strong way to finish," said head coach Ron Gendron.
"All six freshmen started and played well despite difficult rainy
and cold conditions."
Freshman Dana Parziale
(Pinehurst, N.C.), who has earned Northeast Conference
Rookie of the Week honors twice this season, paced the Bulldog
lineup with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Matt Wierzel at No. 1 singles.
Senior Cristian
Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and freshman
Nolan
Gelman (Dix Hills, N.Y.) continued the impressive team
performance with wins at second and third singles, knocking off
Chris Das and Ryan Sullivan in straight sets, respectively.
Freshmen Vidith Huot
(Providence, R.I.) and Connor Crowley
(London, Ontario) and junior Daniel Cournoyer
(Jefferson, Mass.) rounded out the Bryant rotation with
straight set victories to sweep singles action.
In doubles play, freshmen Chris Corrigan
(Lincoln, R.I.) and Theo Sztabholz
(Plaisir, France) teamed up to down Kevin Leggio and Tom
Casavant, 6-2, 6-1 to claim the rain-shortened doubles point.
The Bulldogs finish their fall slate with a 4-0 record in
dual-meet play including a pair of wins against NEC opponents
Wagner and St. Francis (NY) and a strong victory over Boston
University last week.
