BRYANT MEN'S TENNIS DROPS 5-2 DECISION TO CONNECTICUT
WEDNESDAY
boxscore
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University men's tennis team
dropped a 5-2 non-conference decision to the University of
Connecticut Wednesday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis
Complex.
Coming off a strong showing at the Northeast Invitational over
the weekend, the Bulldogs looked to carry the momentum into
Wednesday's encounter with the Huskies in their only home match
this fall. UConn, however, took control of the match early,
winning the doubles point and soon followed with wins by Joe
Goldstein at No. 1 singles, Scott Warden at No. 2 and Jai Yoon at
No. 3 to remain undefeated in dual match play this fall.
Nicholai Hill (Ottawa, Ontario) pulled out a
solid win at No. 4 singles for the Bulldogs, outlasting Dave Adams
6-4, 4-6 and 10-7. Senior Tom Nowak (Medfield,
MA) earned a straight-set win over Matt Burns, 6-0, 6-1 at
No. 5 singles. Hill would also team with
sophomore Dan Cournoyer (Jefferson, MA) to pick up
a win at No. 3 singles as the Bulldog duo topped Burns and Ricardo
Cardona, 8-6.
