BRYANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO QUINNIPIAC

HAMDEN, CT - Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA)
scored five goals but it was not enough as Quinnipiac held off the
Bulldogs 14-9 in women's lacrosse action Friday afternoon.
With the loss, Bryant drops to 3-7 on the season while Quinnipiac,
behind four goals from Ashley Valentine and Nicole Fiore improve to
6-2.
The Bulldogs took a quick 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal from
junior Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) just 1:14
into the game but Quinnipiac would answer with a pair of goals from
Valentine to take its first lead of the game just seven minutes
into the contest.
Bryant freshman Antoinette Lombardi (Wallingford,
CT) would tie the game back up at 2-2 with an unassisted
goal with 13 minutes left before the half but Valentine again
answered for the Bobcats, scoring her third goal of the game to put
the hosts back on top 3-2 with 11:29 left in the half.
After Quinnipiac stretched the lead to 5-3, Glover scored her
second tally of the game with six minutes left to help pull Bryant
to within a goal at 5-4, but the Bobcats would get a pair from
Tiffany Manzi to take a 7-4 lead into the locker room at the break.
The Bobcats would outscore Bryant 4-1 to open the second half
and take a commanding 11-5 lead and hold on for the victory.
Junior goalie Jessica Bolton (Belgrade Lakes,
ME) made five saves in the game before giving way to
freshman netminder Lauren Filippone (West Babylon,
NY) who would finish with six stops in goal.
Quinnipiac out-shot the Bulldogs 32 to 20 in the game and won
18 of 25 draw controls. Bryant will return to action Tuesday
evening with a game at Brown University at 7 pm.
