BRYANT WOMEN'S TENNIS ENDS FLORIDA TRIP WITH BIG 5-2 WIN
OVER ST. JOSEPH'S
ORLANDO, FL – The Bryant University women's tennis team
closed out its Spring Break trip to Florida with a big 5-2 win over
Saint Joseph's Thursday afternoon. The win moves the
Bulldogs to 3-6 on the season overall and 2-1 on the three-match
trip to the Sunshine State.
After falling to Creighton Monday, the Bulldogs defeated South
Dakota State Tuesday 4-3 and used four singles wins and a strong
doubles performance to defeat the Hawks in the final day of action
in Orlando.
The Bulldogs earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to earn the
important doubles point to open the match and carried the momentum
into singles play.
Valeria Couto Cuervo, Dana Tausek, Katie McCabe and Talia Aviania
all were victorious in straight-sets. Couto Cuervo defeated
Krysta Contino at No. 3 singles and Dana Tausek looked strong at
No. 4, defeating Kary Borden 6-4, 6-2.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday at Fairfield.
