SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Senior Caitlin Hansen
(Spring Lake, NJ) scored a career-high seven goals while
Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) added five goals as
the Bryant University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 23-12 win
over visiting Franklin Pierce Thursday evening at the Turf
Complex.
Bryant (4-3, 2-1 NE-10) trailed the visiting Ravens 5-4 early in
the game thanks to a pair of goals by Jordan Baillargeon and
one from Lauren Stille. But Lauren Albert (South
Windsor, CT) was there to tie the game back up at 5-5 with
23:00 left in the first half and the Bulldogs would not trail
again.
Albert's goal helped kick-start an 8-0 run for Bryant as the
junior attacker helped the cause by scoring three goals to push the
Bryant lead to 13-5. Leading 16-8 at the half, two more goals
from Hansen and a pair from Faiola helped put the game away.
Stille finished with five goals for Franklin Pierce which
dropped to 1-3 overall (0-2 NE-10) with the loss. Baillargeon
had four while Carla Savini finished with three on the night.
Bryant out-shot the Ravens 54 to 26 in the game and forced FPU into
committing 20 turnovers.
The seven goals in the game for Hansen is the second-most in a
single game in school history and gives her 149 for her career
(fourth for all-time in school history). Eliza Demarseilles
(Branford, CT) played a strong game for the Bulldogs, finishing
with two goals and three assists plus adding six ground balls.
Bryant will return to action Saturday hosting Assumption College
