BRYANT WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS ASSUMPTION 8-1

Michelle Burke battled back strong with a three-set win
at No. 3 singles Friday vs. Assumption.

SMITHFIELD, RI - The
Bryant University women's tennis team kept its conference record
perfect for the fall season thanks to an 8-1 Northeast-10
Conference win over Assumption College Friday afternoon at the
Bryant Tennis Complex. Bryant (3-1, 3-0 NE-10) opened with
three wins in doubles play to start the match and earned seven of
eight singles points to earn the win.
Bryant seniors Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.)
and Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.) rolled to
straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively.
Solomon defeated Kate Mattei (Rochdale, Mass.)
6-1, 6-2 while Jervasi blanked Julie Kilgore 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Michelle Burke (Barrington, RI) opened
with a first set win over Megan Wnuk (North Providence / La
Salle) at No. 3 singles, 6-3. After dropping the
second 6-2 to Wnuk, Burke bounced back strong with a 10-1 win in
the tie-breaker. Bryant will face Saint Michael's on Saturday
and Dowling Sunday. Both matches start at 11 a.m.
