RINDGE, NH – Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake,
NJ) scored four goals as the Bryant University
women's lacrosse team beat Northeast-10 Conference foe
Franklin Pierce 20-8 in a game played today in Rindge, N.H.
With the win Bryant improves to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in
Northeast-10 play while Franklin Pierce falls to 0-14 and 0-8 in
conference.
Bryant would out-score Franklin Pierce 10-4 in both halves as
the Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead just nine minutes from the
opening whistle. Hansen scored Bryant's first goal three and
half minutes in taking a Marisa Lawrence (Falmouth,
Mass.) pass and beating the Raven keeper for the
game's first tally. Lawrence would quickly get into the
scoring column, netting the team's next two goals.
Bryant would later score three more goals to expand its lead to
7-2. Amanda Gallant (Andover, Mass.) found the
back of the net with 13 minutes to go followed by a goal from
Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, Calif.) and
another from Lawrence.
The Bulldogs would score the first six goals to start the second
half cementing the victory. The run saw Shaun Leddy (Sea
Girt, NJ) score two, Hansen score two, Carlisle score one,
and Melissa Talamini (Mendon, Mass.) score one.
In the game Lawrence would score four goals and add four
assists while Hansen had four goals and Leddy finished with three
goals and two assists.
Samantha Libby (Penacook, NH) got the win in
goal for Bryant playing 50 minutes allowing five goals and
making 10 saves.
Bryant will return to action Thursday when the Bulldogs host
Merrimack College at 4:00 PM.
