BRYANT HARRIERS COMPETE AT ALBANY INVITATIONAL
DOYLE AND TWARDOWSKI PACE THE BULLDOGS
ALBANY, NY - The Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams took part in the University at Albany Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs were led by freshman Deirdre Doyle who finished fourth individually to help the women's team place 14th out of 24 teams competing.
Doyle finished the race in a time of 17 minutes, 49 seconds, just behind overall winner Elise DeRoo of Colgate who crossed the line in 17:28 over the 5-kilometer course. Kimberly DeLoreto of Sacred Heart was second in 17:33 and Jeptui Cherutich of NYIT was a place ahead of Doyle in 17:42.
Megan Robertson, also a freshman, was the next Bulldog to finish, coming in 40th in 18:47 while freshman Molly Tower was 96th in 20:05.
The Bryant men were led by junior standout Scott Twardowski who finished 67th overall individually in 26:14 as the Bulldogs finished 16th place out of 24 teams competing at the Invitational. Freshman David Hurley ran a fine race, finishing 78th overall and was the second Bulldog to cross the line in 26:25. Chris Kelleher was 81st (26:27) and Ben Coughlin (90th) and Ryan Busby (92nd) soon followed.
