BULLDOGS BLANKED BY BLACKBIRDS FRIDAY NIGHT AT LIU, 1-0

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Despite outshooting the Blackbirds, a late first half goal proved to be enough for Long Island University as they defeated the Bryant women's soccer team 1-0 on Friday night in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Blackbirds (9-7-1, 5-4-1 NEC) recorded the lone goal in the 39th minute off a Jessica Roelant header. Roelant received a cross from Katie Egan and was able to put the ball past Bryant senior keeper Katie Mitchell (Deer Park, N.Y.) Mitchell recorded three saves in the contest.  

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 4-12-1 overall and 2-6-1 in Northeast Conference play. Bryant outshot LIU 8-6 in the contest with all shots coming from a different player.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, Nov. 1 when they host Wagner University for senior day at Bulldog Stadium. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

Seniors Katie Mitchell (Deer Park, N.Y.), Molly Wallace (Sandwich, Mass.), Alex DiPippo (Shelton, Conn.), Brianne Lustenring (Massapequa, N.Y.), Ashley Montgomery (Hollis, Maine) and Holly Tyser (Somers, Conn.) will be honored.
