2009 Division I All-Independent honorable mention selection as voted on by the 13 Independent coaches and administrators Wednesday afternoon.
Dobmeier, a senior, led the Bulldogs this season just about every major offensive category including batting average (.291), home runs (five), RBI (16), slugging percentage (.482) and on-base percentage (.362). She has started 35 of Bryant's 39 games at first base this season, playing solid defense with 310 putouts and just six errors, good for a .982 fielding percentage. The senior has come up clutch for Bryant this season, hitting a go-ahead home run against Holy Cross in the sixth inning, and a game-tying home run with two outs in the seventh inning against URI.
"Anne has had a great career here at Bryant, clutch hits and picks at first base to keep us in most games. She is the consummate team player surrendering the "me" for the "we" and it is great to see her hard work payoff," said head coach Lisa-Ann Wallace.
Dobmeier finished tied for 11th among Independent players in home runs with five, while finishing second in putouts with 338. She has been a leader on the team in her three seasons, playing numerous positions in her career at Bryant, including pitching as a sophomore in 2007. She found her spot at first base over the last two seasons, hitting .290 for her career with six home runs and 35 RBI.
The 13 DI Independent schools include Bryant, CSU Bakersfield, Houston Baptist, Longwood, North Carolina Central, North Dakota, Savannah State, Seattle, South Dakota, SIU Edwardsville, Idaho State, Northern Colorado and Utah Valley. A first and second team were selected- each consisting of two pitchers, a catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, a designated player and a utility player- as well as an honorable mention squad.
