THRESHER NAMED NORTHEAST CONFERENCE GOLFER OF THE WEEK

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- After pacing the Bryant University golf team to a second-place team finish and taking a third-overall individual finish at this week's Connecticut Cup, senior Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) was named the Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week, as announced by league officials Wednesday afternoon.

Thresher took third out of 69 total golfers with a three-round score of 218, opening up the two-day competition with a 76 and a 74 before carding a stellar round of 68 Tuesday in the final round. The conference honor is the senior's first weekly award of the 2009-10 campaign.

With the top-3 ranking, Thresher earned his third-straight top-10 finish of the season and recorded the Bulldogs' best round in Tuesday's final 18 holes (68). Thresher finished just two shots over par and eight behind the eventual winner and was the only Bulldog to finish in the tournament's top 10.
