SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University baseball head coach Jamie Pinzino is pleased to announce the recent addition of former Wheaton assistant coach Andrew Koocher and 2009 Bulldog captain Kevin Cobb to the staff for the 2010 season.

Koocher joins the Bulldog staff after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Wheaton College. While coaching at his alma mater, Koocher helped lead the Lyons to two conference championships and two New England regional appearances, working with the hitters and running the team's offense as the third base coach.

A 2006 graduate of Wheaton, Koocher finished with a .356 career batting average and .985 fielding percentage in 113 games. During his four years as a player, the Lyons won four New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular-season crowns and made a trio of NCAA tournament appearances. He capped off his senior year with a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England Second Team selection and was selected to appear in the NEIBA All-Star Game at Fenway Park.

At Bryant, Koocher will work primarily with the hitters and will also serve at the team's third base coach, in addition to his recruiting responsibilities.

Cobb, a senior captain on last year's Bulldog squad, spent four years as a pitcher for the Bryant and now joins the coaching staff as he enters his first season as assistant coach.

Cobb's illustrious career saw him compile a 19-3 record on the mound while helping the Bulldogs to two NCAA regional appearances. Cobb captained the Bulldogs to a 32-22 record in the program's inaugural Division I season, ending the year with a perfect 7-0 record and earning All-New England honors. Cobb and his teammates earned 128 wins over his four years as a player, including 11 in postseason play.

Cobb will be assisting with the pitchers as well as the defense for the Bulldogs this season. A native of Acton, Mass., Cobb graduated from Bryant University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in finance.
